On the 18th, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued a notice on the implementation of major engineering packages for upgrading and transforming the manufacturing industry, focusing on the high-end, intelligent, green, and service-oriented aspects of the manufacturing industry, and organizing the implementation of ten key projects. Through the implementation of major engineering packages, we strive to achieve an average annual growth rate of over 7% in the added value of manufacturing industries above designated size, an average annual growth rate of about 15% in enterprise technological transformation investment, and a significant improvement in the independent innovation capability and industrial new product output rate of enterprises through three years of effort. At the same time, we will increase national funding support and expand the scale of special construction fund support.
This major engineering package involves intelligent manufacturing, high-end equipment, key new materials, aerospace capacity building, electronic information, and other aspects. Specifically, the seventh engineering package is the electronic information upgrade project, and the new flat panel display is an important component of it. It requires the key development of new generation display mass production technologies such as low-temperature polycrystalline silicon (LTPS), oxide, and organic light-emitting semiconductor display (AMOLED), and the establishment of high generation production lines; Develop key materials and equipment fields such as glass substrates, brightening films, photoresist, OLED vapor deposition process unit equipment components, and automated transfer systems for vapor deposition equipment, and enhance independent supporting capabilities. In addition, promote the joint development and industrialization demonstration of key common technologies; Layout in cutting-edge technology fields such as quantum dots and flexible displays.
Due to the use of OLED materials in smartphones such as Apple, the future market application prospects are broad. Institutions predict that by 2020, the AMOLED market size is expected to reach 67 billion US dollars, with a compound annual growth rate of over 45%.
Recently, according to the Interactive Easy platform, institutions have conducted frequent research on companies related to this field. Since late April, Wanrun Corporation has received collective research from 103 institutions. The company stated that its overall OLED material business is relatively stable, and production and operation are normal. The company hopes to cultivate more products with broad market prospects, such as liquid crystal materials, zeolite series environmentally friendly materials, and OLED materials, through research and development. Shentianma A announced on the Interactive Easy platform that the company launched the construction of the first 4.5-generation AMOLED pilot line in China in Shanghai in 2010 and has produced multiple samples. In 2013, we began investing in the construction of a 5.5-generation AMOLED production line, with a monthly processing capacity of 15000 pieces of 5.5-generation 1/4 cut OLED vapor deposited encapsulated glass substrates. Currently, the products on this production line have been mass-produced and shipped. Based on the AMOLED production line, the company has conducted in-depth research and development on flexible display technology. Among them, the 5.46-inch AMOLED flexible display product won the "CITE2016 Innovation Product and Application Award".
Institutions believe that with the rapid development of smartphones, wearable devices, and VR, OLED, with its obvious advantages such as being thinner, higher contrast, flexible and bendable, and having a wide viewing angle range, is expected to continuously expand new application areas and become one of the mainstream display technologies in the future. In addition, as major smartphone manufacturers adopt OLED technology, the application of OLED materials in small and medium-sized fields will show a high-speed growth trend. It is expected that by 2017, the OLED market will double in growth. By 2018, the large-size OLED screen market centered around televisions will be fully launched, and in the next 10 years, OLED products are expected to account for 30% to 40% of the total display screen market.
